Application in polystyrene resin
Ordinary grade polystyrene is a hard and brittle amorphous polymer. Although it has good aging resistance and dimensional stability, it is highly brittle and susceptible to environmental stress cracking. By adding ultra-fine talc masterbatch, its performance can be effectively improved:
Improve the impact toughness and tensile yield strength of the material;
Significantly increase the flexural modulus: For example, after adding 40% ultrafine talc, the flexural modulus increases from 23,800 kg/cm to 58,800 kg/cm, and the tensile strength increases from 336 kg/cm to 285 kg/cm .
The improvement of these properties allows polystyrene materials to be used in a wider range of fields.
Applications in polypropylene
Polypropylene (PP) has become one of the fastest growing varieties among the five general-purpose resins due to its excellent mechanical properties, non-toxicity, heat resistance, chemical resistance and easy processing properties. However, due to the slow crystallization speed of PP during processing, it is easy to form larger spherulites, resulting in poor transparency and gloss, which affects its application in packaging, medical equipment, household products and other fields.
By adding talc masterbatch, the following performance optimizations can be achieved:
1. Improve transparency and gloss: Modified PP is comparable to typical transparent materials (such as PC, PS, PET).
2. Improve mechanical properties and processability: Talc masterbatch shows lower relative density, good processability and excellent comprehensive properties in PP plastics. The modified PP is especially suitable for automotive and electrical appliance materials to meet high performance requirements.
3. Expand market prospects: Transparent PP performs well in utensils that are used at high temperatures or need to be sterilized (such as transparent beverage cups, microwave tableware, baby bottles, medical syringes, etc.), and its broad market potential has been fully recognized at home and abroad.
